Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 650 Hypershift, a special edition built to celebrate the brand's 125th anniversary. It is priced at Rs 4.26 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be limited to just 125 units in India, making it one of the most exclusive Royal Enfields on sale.
What is "Hypershift"?
Despite the name, Hypershift has nothing to do with gears. It is a special paint finish that appears to shift between red, green and gold as light moves across the bodywork. The edition is purely cosmetic and mechanically identical to the regular Classic 650.
Design highlights
- Colour-shifting Hypershift paint
- A special 125-year crest on the teardrop fuel tank
- Unique badging on the side panels
- Hand-painted pinstripes
Engine and hardware
| Specification | Classic 650 |
|---|---|
| Engine | 648cc air-cooled parallel-twin |
| Power | 47hp |
| Torque | 52.3Nm |
| Front suspension | Telescopic fork |
| Rear suspension | Twin shocks, 90mm travel |
The engine is shared with the Interceptor 650 and other 650 twins, while the chassis is derived from the Super Meteor 650, with a conventional telescopic fork and reduced rear travel for a classic ride.
How much more does it cost?
- Classic 650 base colours (Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue): Rs 3.68 lakh
- Classic 650 Black Chrome: Rs 3.82 lakh
- Classic 650 Hypershift: Rs 4.26 lakh
That makes the Hypershift Rs 58,000 more than the base model and Rs 43,500 more than the top regular variant, a premium for exclusivity rather than extra performance.
How to buy one
- Registrations opened on 16 October 2026 and close on 28 October 2026.
- Only registered buyers will be considered when sales open on 28 October.
- Deliveries to buyers who secure one of the 125 units are expected to begin in November.
Royal Enfield says the edition will be limited to 125 units in each of its key markets around the world.
Should you buy it?
If you want a Classic 650 to ride every day, the regular versions offer the same performance for less. The Hypershift makes sense for collectors and fans who want a piece of Royal Enfield's 125-year history, and limited editions from the brand have often held their value well.
