Indian shares ended a four-session losing streak on Monday. The benchmarks recovered from early losses, helped by value buying in metal, pharma and healthcare stocks and a slight easing in crude oil. Both indices closed at their highs of the day, CNBC-TV18 reported.

What drove the rebound
Anil Singhvi, managing editor of Zee Business, said the recovery came because the market was oversold ahead of expiry and the Nifty found support near 22,375, around Friday's low. He also pointed to buying by institutional investors. He warned that the bounce "did not mean the market was out of danger" and said volatility could continue until expiry.
Vikram Kasat of PL Capital described the move as "selective buying in metals, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, rather than a decisive improvement in overall sentiment", BusinessLine reported.
