Declan Rice's late equaliser earned Arsenal a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, keeping them unbeaten in this season's Champions League. But the result was overshadowed by an early injury to Bukayo Saka.

    Saka injury worry

Saka pulled up without any contact after 10 minutes with a left thigh problem and was replaced by Eze, who went on to score. Eze's goal was the earliest by an Arsenal substitute in the Champions League since Thierry Henry in 2005, according to ESPN. Mikel Arteta said the injury "doesn't look good at all," Sky Sports reported, telling TNT the medical staff were "a bit concerned."

    Kane closes in on Ronaldo

Kane's penalty means he has scored in 10 consecutive Champions League games, one short of Cristiano Ronaldo's record, ESPN said. It was also his 16th goal in 22 games against Arsenal, his old rivals from his Tottenham days. Bayern were without the suspended Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich, who missed the game because of a family bereavement.

Both goalkeepers made important saves, with David Raya denying Dayot Upamecano.

    What's next

Arsenal have not lost a Champions League match in 90 minutes since May 2025. They host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, when Arteta will hope for better news on Saka. Elsewhere on Wednesday, Como thrashed Manchester United 4-1.
