Toyota has kicked off a busy festive launch week with an updated version of its best-known hatchback. The 2026 Toyota Glanza facelift went on sale in India on October 14, 2026, with ex-showroom prices from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 10.98 lakh.

The refresh is more than a nip and tuck. Alongside a new face and extra features such as ventilated front seats and a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), the Glanza gets an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that replaces the old four-cylinder unit, with better claimed fuel efficiency and, for the first time, an automated manual gearbox paired with CNG.

Bookings are open at Rs 11,000, and Autocar India reports deliveries will start from the first week of November.

    Prices and variants

The Glanza is offered in five trims: E, S, G, V and V(O). Here are the ex-showroom prices as reported by Autocar India:

    • E: Petrol MT Rs 6.99 lakh
    • S: Petrol MT Rs 7.71 lakh, Petrol AMT Rs 8.31 lakh, CNG MT Rs 8.76 lakh, CNG AMT Rs 9.31 lakh
    • G: Petrol MT Rs 8.73 lakh, Petrol AMT Rs 9.33 lakh, CNG MT Rs 9.68 lakh, CNG AMT Rs 10.23 lakh
    • V: Petrol MT Rs 9.99 lakh, Petrol AMT Rs 10.59 lakh
    • V(O): Petrol MT Rs 10.49 lakh, Petrol AMT Rs 10.98 lakh

CNG is available only on the S and G trims. Compared with the outgoing model, Autocar India says petrol versions have become dearer by up to Rs 1 lakh, while CNG manual versions cost up to Rs 27,000 more.

The big change: a new three-cylinder engine

Under the bonnet is Suzuki's new Z12E 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine, which runs on both petrol and CNG. It is the same family of engine Maruti Suzuki has been rolling out across its newer models.

On petrol, it makes 83hp and 112Nm, and comes with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. That is 7hp and 1Nm less than the old four-cylinder engine. The trade-off is efficiency. Claimed mileage rises to:

    • 23.80kpl with the manual (up from 22.35kpl)
    • 24.77kpl with the AMT (up from 22.94kpl)

An idle start-stop function is also part of the package.

On CNG, output is 70hp and 102Nm. That is 7hp lower but 4.5Nm higher than before. Claimed efficiency improves to 33.61km/kg with the manual (up from 30.61km/kg), and the new CNG AMT is rated at 34.47km/kg.

The arrival of a CNG automatic is worth highlighting. Buyers in cities with heavy traffic who want low running costs have had limited two-pedal options in CNG, and this gives Glanza shoppers that choice in the S and G trims.

Three-cylinder engines tend to have a slightly different character to four-cylinder ones, with more noticeable vibration at idle in some cars. It is worth taking a proper test drive to see how this one feels.

What has changed on the outside

The design updates are concentrated at the front:

    • A larger grille with satin trim on either side
    • A radar module in the front for the ADAS features
    • Redesigned LED fog lamps
    • The Toyota logo moved to the trim beneath the bonnet
    • A new shark-fin antenna
    • Two new colours: Digital Teal Green and Bluish Black

The headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels and the rear end, including the wraparound LED tail-lights, carry over unchanged.

Dimensions are 3,990mm long, 1,745mm wide and 1,530mm tall, with a 2,520mm wheelbase. Boot space has not been officially revealed, but Autocar India expects the petrol version to be similar to the Baleno's 318 litres. As with most factory CNG hatchbacks, the CNG tank eats into much of the boot.

    Inside: same dashboard, more features

The dashboard layout is unchanged, but the equipment list grows. New additions include:

    • Leatherette seat upholstery
    • Ventilated front seats
    • A wireless phone charger with a cooling vent
    • A Clarion sound system with four speakers and two tweeters
    • A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
    • A Level-2 ADAS suite

Carried over from before are the 9-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, analogue dials with a colour multi-information display, and automatic climate control with rear vents.

On safety, six airbags remain standard, and the car also gets a 360-degree camera, hill-hold control and ISOFIX child seat mounts. CNBC-TV18 reports that ADAS is available only on the top variant, so buyers who want it will need to stretch their budget.

    How it compares

The Glanza is a badge-engineered twin of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which was itself updated around a month earlier. In the premium hatchback segment it competes with:

    • Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh
    • Hyundai i20 and i20 N Line: Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.64 lakh
    • Tata Altroz: Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.90 lakh

(All prices ex-showroom, as listed by Autocar India.)

On price alone, the Glanza now starts higher than the Baleno and tops out close to the i20. Toyota buyers often weigh in factors such as the brand's service network and warranty terms, so it is worth comparing the full ownership package, not just the sticker price.

    Should you buy one?

The new Glanza makes the most sense for:

    • High-mileage city drivers, especially those who want a CNG automatic.
    • Families who want features like ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera and ADAS in a compact hatchback.
    • Buyers who prefer the Toyota badge and dealer experience over the Maruti equivalent.

It may be less appealing if you valued the smoothness of the old four-cylinder engine, or if you are price-sensitive, since the facelift costs noticeably more than before on petrol versions.

    A crowded festive week

The Glanza is just the first of several launches lined up for this week. According to reports from CarToq and India Car News, the Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is scheduled for October 15, the new third-generation Audi Q3 for October 16, and the Renault Duster strong hybrid for October 17. For buyers planning a purchase around Diwali, that means plenty of new options, and a good reason to compare carefully before signing.
