Glee, the musical comedy that turned show choir into a global pop-culture phenomenon, is coming back. Disney+ and Hulu have given a series order to a Glee revival produced by 20th Television, it was announced on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, according to TheWrap and TVLine.
Who is behind it
The script was written by the show's original co-creators, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. No showrunner, plot, number of episodes or premiere date has been announced yet.
Will the original cast return?
No cast has been confirmed. Murphy has contacted "around 10 of the original cast members," TVLine reported, and said "they all were very enthusiastic about the idea," according to TheWrap.
The original series featured Matthew Morrison as teacher Will Schuester and Jane Lynch as cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, alongside Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Darren Criss and Heather Morris, among others. Three cast members have since died: Cory Monteith in 2013, Mark Salling in 2018 and Naya Rivera in 2020.
How it came about
Murphy first hinted at a revival in July 2026 at the premiere of his FX drama The Shards. In September, at the premiere of American Horror Story season 13, he told Entertainment Tonight: "I just finished the script an hour ago."
